President Trump, these two words have just either incited hope for a future new government or fear, fear of the government setting us back to 1950, in you. As Trump takes over the strongest militaries and democratic countries, hope flees a lot of people that sit alone in a jail cell; it’s with a heavy heart I write this to urge you to get involved for the sake of the other 43 states.I appreciate all the recent clemencies that President Obama did before he left office but there still sits a huge population of pot prisoners growing old and dying behind bars.
When Bush was elected I wasn’t scared; he was just a governor from Texas; I wasn’t frightened when Obama won, he was just a senator from Illinois, but Trump and his cabinet scare the hell out of me and millions of others. I have this same feeling when I’m holding a small amount of pot in my pocket in prohibition states because ignorance doesn’t walk around with a neon sign. He doesn’t incite hope with me unless he wants to end the drug war now. Not fight ISIS, build a wall, nor telling women what to do with her body.I appreciate all the recent clemencies that President Obama did before he left office but there still sits a huge population of pot prisoners growing old and dying behind bars. I appreciate all the recent clemencies that President Obama did before he left office but there still sits a huge population of pot prisoners growing old and dying behind bars, it’s still not enough. The Cannabis Cause is not the only cause, but it’s a universal one that can help racial and sexual equality, break economic boundaries, and contribute to reducing waste (through Hemp textiles) and heal people who choose an alternative healthcare choice.
Stop Playing The Victim
I went to The Seattle’s Women’s march to support my wife and daughter. To stand for things we believe in; things like women’s right, and how it’s not my place to tell people how to love, it’s not my place to tell you what to do in your home, as long as everyone is a willing participant. The Seattle event was reinvigorating, when one came over a hill, all you could see was a sea of pink pussy hats and signs, a sea of people upset and scared, a sea of fellow Americans who don’t believe in homo-xeno-phobic dribble. It was a beautiful day that proves you can get a message across without breaking things, that’s just asinine.
We are told via the news and Trump’s Twitter feed that our priorities should go from building a wall to fighting ISIS, but none of this effects my day to day or bottom dollar, so it’s hard for me to give a fuck on any of this. The same goes for Israel; it seems to me the only reason we stand for Israel is that people in power believe they’re the chosen ones, how is this different from the Muslim extremist, it just seems like a form of Christian extremism to me.
People are still mad Obama was President, just no one is asking for his birth certificate anymore, I think it’s ironic that one of the people that started this is now the President but every once in awhile something happens that makes you question or prove your reality. I agree that Trump won the Presidency and hope that he becomes a great one because hoping he’s a bad president is like hoping for a bad pilot.
Obama had eight years to legalize marijuana, eight years to free all the non-violent offenders, so it’s evident that social criminal justice wasn’t a priority, just another thing on his to-do list. Although there were no great leaps in Federal reform, the states took the ball and eight states legalized marijuana for recreational use. Now more important than ever is the time to get out there and be known to support cannabis reform. Marijuana is not a state to state issue while men and women sit in Federal prisons.
I don’t mean to undermine any other cause like the cure to cancer, but it is the drug war that has blinded our justice and hinders pharmaceutical advancements due to red tape. The marijuana activist is an unpaid part of an industry til no one can go to jail for a plant but what can you do?You don’t have to go to marches or stand on a podium to make a difference, as an American everything you do is the podium. From dollars spent to likes on Facebook, every number counts.
You don’t have to go to marches or stand on a podium to make a difference, as an American everything you do is the podium. From dollars spent to likes on Facebook, everything you do counts. Stay vigilant, pay attention to news stories about arrests and raids, let it be known that you don’t support this sort of thing. If you feel real froggy, go to the Facebook page of the Sheriffs Department or whatever agency and let them know how you feel. Personally, I’ve agencies take off the rating system on their Facebook page because it went from 5 stars to 1.
Besides doing things on the internet try contacting a prisoner, hope is a powerful weapon. There are several websites out there that give you the address and the story of an inmate. The Marijuana Lifer Project is run by the amazing Cheri Sicard. Another site you can go to is P.O.W 420; this one ran by one of the hardest working prison activist I know, Adele Falk. You can help a prisoner by writing them a letter and letting them know they are not forgotten, that they are still a human being or you can donate to their books and help them purchase bare necessities.
And finally, if you want to play outside; there are many things one can do to help raise public awareness. Jury nullification awareness is one. Did you know it’s you’re right to say “Not Guilty,” if you disagree with the law. It is your inherent right as an American citizen, no matter what evidence presented to say “Not Guilty” because the law is Court support is another thing you can do. If you find that there’s a raid or arrest in your local arrest, go to the trial and sit behind the prosecuted. The more people that stand behind an individual, the more it sends a message to the judges that this is not the law we want to be enforced. If you would like to learn more about things you can do take a look at The Human Solution International, this a group of people doing what I just talked about and a good support network at a local level.
Not A Fan of Politics
I just want to make clear, even if Hillary won I would have my doubts because I have no faith in the government or the political system. What I do believe in though is the people and the power of common sense. Americans are daily becoming more aware that is a great big lie and its hard to believe in something once you realize that lie but for us to go forward we must acknowledge and correct all the wrongs done to our Lady Liberty, to that idea of what makes America great. America was never the great you thought it was because until the justice system is the same in all the states, we will stay the Selective States of America.
