I received the following alert out of Rhode Island today:
It appears that Governor Raimondo may be opposing marijuana legalization this year. Please call her office right now and ask her to reconsider. Please be polite and respectful. Call this number:
Last week, the heads of various agencies under the Governor’s administration submitted a letter to the General Assembly, which is considering House Bill 5555 to legalize and regulate marijuana. In the letter, the state officials said they have concerns about legalization and instead expressed support for a study commission.
We already have plenty of data to make an informed decision this year. A study commission is simply a delay tactic that will only prolong the failed policy of marijuana prohibition — a policy opposed by 59% of Rhode Island voters.
Please take a few minutes to call Governor Raimondo at (401) 222-2080, and ask her to change course and support a vote to legalize and regulate marijuana this year.
