The marijuana activism network on the ground in Michigan has always impressed me. Whereas most marijuana legalization efforts have national backing and national funding, the 2016 MILegalize effort was a truly grassroots campaign. The initiative did not make the ballot (due to politicians trying to sabotage the campaign at every turn), but it did make a huge impact. Now, finally, national organizations and funders are helping Michigan’s efforts, with the goal of getting legalization on the 2018 ballot.
But national support will only go so far. Local support is more important now than ever. There is a MILegalize fundraiser this Saturday in Lansing. If you are in the area, please come out and show your support. Below is more information, via Eventbrite (which is where you can sign up):
Fundraiser for MILegalize.com in support of the ballot petition coming out May 1, 2017 to legalize hemp and recreational cannabis in Michigan.
Your $20 donation includes pizza, soda, a goodie bag, with $10 of the donation going toward a 50/50 raffle.
This ballot petition is entirely funded by people like us! Can’t make the March 11 fundraiser and support? Please donate at www.MILegalize.com.
Help us pay for ballot petitions, mailing and everything else needed to meet the 180 day time limit the Governor put in place AFTER we turned in more than enough signatures to have been voted on last year 🙁
Help grow Michigan’s economy and keep friends and family out of jail by legalizing recreational marijuana and hemp!
When: Sat, March 11, 2017 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM EST
