With the passing of Easter, millions of Americans are already gearing up for the next big holiday: 420. There are few places in the world that get down like Denver, Colorado. If you call it home or happen to be traveling through, here’s your guide to the holidaze in the Milehigh.
The annual Milehigh 420 Festival (previously called the Denver 420 Rally) at the Civic Center Park returns with Euflora, a Denver dispensary, hosting 2018’s high holiday. On Friday April 20 at 10:00 A.M. at the Civic Center Park, the annual gathering of the cannabis community will come together for Lil Wayne, Lil John, The Inner Circle, and others. As always, it’s free to the public and a non-consumption event. Wink Wink. There will be food vendors, yoga, comedy, art, and as many as 50,000 people in attendance.
But you don’t have to wait till 4/20 for the fun to begin. The Colorado International Cannabis and Hemp Film Festival begins on Tuesday, April 17th and resumes on Thursday, April 19th. A showcase of creative projects that shine a positive light on cannabis and hemp, submissions include dramatizations, re-enactments, comedies, comics, animations and personal narratives.
Also on April 19th is 420 Eve on The Rocks and Sensi Night at Temple Nightclub. This year’s 420 Eve on The Rocks will feature 311, Method Man, Redman, and others. The show starts at 4:15 at the world-famous Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre. Sensi Night, a quarterly gathering of cannabis industry professionals, starts at 6:00. Sensi is hosting this event at two locations: Temple Nightclub and Club Vinyl. They are both located on the same block on Broadway in central Denver. Finally, there is a Smoke and Paint class on 4/19 on a location yet to be announced.
Myxed Up Creations’ 25th Annual Myxed Up 420 Party will return this year with a consumption bus at their flagship Colfax Store. If you are looking to enjoy lots of grass and glass, this party’s for you! After the 420 festivities Friday afternoon, Denver offers many opportunities for people who want to celebrate into the night. Afroman at the Gothic Theatre, Flosstradamus at Red Rocks, and a second show by Method Man and Redman at Cervantes, Friday night is on fire with live shows.
On Saturday, 4/21, Sunsquabi, OPIUO, Anomalie, and Flamingosis reignite Red Rocks with joints and jams. For those who burn the whole weekend, hike higher on Sunday 4/22 with Cannaventure. Their first event of 2018, they’re hiking on the Wells Gulch Trail near Fort Collins, Colorado. This is a sampling of the many dope events going on around Denver the 4/20 weekend.
