Tomorrow: Members Of Congress To Join National Cannabis Industry Association At Press Conference

national cannabis industry association lobby days

On Wednesday, May 23 at 9:30 AM ET, cannabis business leaders with the National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA) and bipartisan members of Congress will hold a press conference at the House Triangle to discuss the successful legal cannabis programs in their states and advocate for policy reforms to protect this rapidly-expanding industry, including legislation to open access to financial services and create parity in the tax code for state-licensed cannabis businesses.

This week, more than 200 cannabis industry leaders from across the country are gathering in Washington, D.C. for the National Cannabis Industry Association’s 8th Annual Cannabis Industry Lobby Days. Over the course of the two-day event starting Tuesday, citizen lobby meetings will be held with Congressional offices to discuss the positive economic and social impact that regulating cannabis markets has already had on states with modern marijuana laws and advocate for the fair treatment of the legal businesses created by those laws.

Meetings between cannabis business leaders and congressional offices will take place throughout Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Members of the media are encouraged to attend the Wednesday press conference, but meetings with members of Congress are generally closed to the press.
