At 1:30 today in East Lansing the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs will host the second public meeting of the MMFLA’s Licensing Board.
The Licensing Board consist of five members, all selected by the Governor, the Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader. At the first meeting, an overwhelmingly large crowd waited in line to hear what the gatekeepers of the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act (MMFLA) would say regarding the future of the state’s dispensaries, testing facilities, gardens and processing centers.
The people left very unhappy, as one of the Board members, former MSP Sgt. Bailey, made reference to the potential blacklisting of anyone involved in the current unregulated patient services industry.
Since then, LARA Director Edgerton spoke publicly at the MICBD Group’s Detroit conference and the law firm of Dykema Gosset has published MMFLA updates on their blog- Dykema is working with the new Bureau of Medical Marihuana Regulation (BMMR), a subdivision of LARA which administers the MMMA, the MMFLA, the new Seed-to-Sale Tracking program, and the Medical Marihuana Fund.
Today’s meeting will feature the same Public Comment period as the last time, but also features three agenda items:
- A. Department Update on Statewide Monitoring System (METRC) – Andrew Brisbo
- B. Department Update on Accela Implementation – Sara Hernandez
- C. Department Update on Administrative Rules and Facility Work Groups – Colleen Curtis
Today’s meeting will be at 1:30pm at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center 219 S Harrison Rd, East Lansing, MI 48824.
