DAY FOURTEEN, our final day of Michigan NORML’s campaign to educate our supporters about their U.S. Congressional Representatives and their views on cannabis.

Brenda Lawrence represents Michigan’s 14th Congressional District. Lawrence won the Democratic Party nomination on August 5, 2014, despite being outspent. Lawrence won with 36% of the vote, Hobbs took 32%, Clarke 31% and Foster 1%. Lawrence  faced Republican nominee Christina Conyers of Detroit in the November general election. But Conyers withdrew from the race and Christina Barr of Pontiac was chosen as the Republican nominee. Lawrence won with 78% of the vote, Barr took 20%, Schwartz 1% and Boyle 1%.

Michigan’s 14th congressional district includes parts of Wayne and Oakland Counties.

NORML has given Lawrence a grade of B because she has been only warmly supportive of sensible cannabis reforms that she has had the opportunity to vote for or against. Lawrence is not a leader of cannabis reforms, but she has not blocked cannabis reforms.

Rep. Lawrence needs to hear from cannabis consumers in Michigan’s 14th congressional district NOW! You can send her a respectful email from this link:
https://lawrence.house.gov/contactA friendly visit to her District offices also makes a big impression. Again, always stay respectful! Lawrence has offices located at:

YOUR MAIN MESSAGE TO Rep. Lawrence should be:
Thank you for supporting sensible cannabis reforms. Please co-sponsor HR 1227, the Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act, and the Marijuana Justice Act, to protect the 300,000 patients enrolled in Michigan’s medical marijuana program. Please also take 5 minutes to visit the NORML Action Center and contact your U.S. representatives:
