Michigan Marijuana Legalization Campaign Launches First Ads

The Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol released three ads today supporting the Yes on Proposal 1 campaign.

In the first ad, three Michigan veterans explain that they will be voting YES on 1 because it will generate over half a billion dollars in new tax revenue over the next six years, with $40 million directed to research on treating veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The second ad features two retired Michigan police officers who describe how arresting Michiganders for petty marijuana possession wastes of law enforcement’s time and resources that could otherwise be directed towards fighting serious crime.

The third ad highlights the story of former WJBK FOX 2 Detroit anchor Anqunette Jameson Sarfoh, who retired from her career as a reporter due to the effects of multiple sclerosis. In the ad, Jameson Sarfoh explains how medical marijuana has helped her manage her symptoms and how voting yes on Proposal 1 will expand access for patients like her.

“The stories featured in these ads represent the stories of thousands of Michigan residents across the state who understand the marijuana prohibition has caused more harm than marijuana itself,” said Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol Spokesperson Josh Hovey. “Proposal 1 will end the waste of tax dollars enforcing a failed law, generate hundreds of millions in tax revenue for our most important needs and ensure products are safe and regulated.”

These first round of ads are only running online.
