I received the following message out of Illinois today:
Next week, Illinois lawmakers will continue their series of hearings on legalizing and regulating marijuana for adults’ use. On Tuesday, senators and representatives from several committees will hear how legalization has led to business and economic growth in other parts of the country, and how it would affect Illinoisans.
What: Joint hearing on economic development
Where: Michael A. Bilandic Building, 6th Floor, Chicago, IL
When: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 28
Celebrity travel author and television personality Rick Steves will discuss experiences in his home state of Washington. Other experts include business owners that have seen their own, non-marijuana companies thrive as the new cannabis economy emerges, along with researchers tracking economic growth after legalization.
Legislative committees include both the House and Senate appropriations committees, along with the House Committee on Public Safety and Appropriations. If you can join us, please consider doing so. If you’re unable to join us Tuesday, you can watch the hearing here. The official hearing notice is available online, including a link to submit a witness slip. While written testimony is welcome, time for additional speakers is not expected at the hearing.
Those who attend should be respectful of all viewpoints and speakers, and be mindful that we are ambassadors for the cause. Inappropriate dress or comments can work against our efforts.
Please pass this message on to your own network, and help get the word out!
