Oregon is home to one of the oldest cannabis communities in the country. As I always point out to people, there’s a reason why Jack Herer lived here for so long. From a consumer standpoint, there’s virtually no better place in America to be because of how robust Oregon’s industry is and how many dispensaries there are across the state.
But as awesome as Oregon’s cannabis scene is, it could be better. Specifically, Oregon’s cannabis consumption laws could be improved to allow for social use in limited settings. To be clear, this is not the same as saying that people should be allowed to walk down the street consuming cannabis.
What cannabis advocates are pushing for in Oregon is reform that allows for businesses to permit cannabis consumption in areas that are not open to people under 21 years of age and out of public view. It could be a lounge, a bar, a bookstore, a place where adults play boardgames surrounded by cats, etc.
New Revenue Coalition is leading the charge on the effort, and they are holding a fundraiser next month. I will be there and I hope you will be too! The fight for social use reform is part of the second phase of legalization, and a win in Oregon would be a win for all other legal states. Because of that, I hope that everyone will support the effort no matter where they live. Below is more information about the event via the fundraiser’s Facebook listing:
The New Revenue Coalition and supporters are getting together for a fun night out at Jupiter Hotel‘s Jupiter NEXT and we hope you join us!
This will be a great night of socializing with the most influential movers and shakers in the Cannabis Industry as well as elected leaders. Come out and enjoy great food, beverage, and games, hear our legislative update, and participate in our silent auction!
We hope to see you there, and we hope many of you will join on to sponsor the event!
Why we’re getting together:
The legislative session in fast-approaching and we have an opportunity to secure safe, legal facilities for cannabis patients and consumers to consume cannabis. We cannot accomplish this goal – to pass a meaningful cannabis consumption law in the 2019 session – without your support. We will need a well-coordinated, grass-roots lobbying effort, we will also need a collective industry push, as well as a professional lobbying campaign. These things all take cash to get done, and we hope we can count on you!
