Sponsor The Students For Sensible Drug Policy Annual Conference

In March of 2012 my best friend Jay and I traveled to Denver to attend the Students for Sensible Drug Policy Annual Conference. The drive from the Willamette Valley of Oregon to Denver was quite the trek, and Jay and I had a great time. We even passed through a fake drug inspection checkpoint on the way, which was one of the scariest moments of my life. Fortunately the drug inspection checkpoint was a rouse, and created an epic story that we were able to share at the conference.

I had never been to a Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) event before, but I had been a fan for quite some time. You will be hard pressed to find activists that have as much passion or work as hard to push reform as SSDP members. Unfortunately I did not learn about SSDP until after I had graduated college, otherwise I would have started a chapter on my campus. Prohibition has failed, and college students across America (and the globe for that matter) are doing their part via SSDP to make the world a better place.

I have not attended an SSDP event since the 2012 conference, but I’m happy to say that a conference is taking place in Oregon this month. The Students for Sensible Drug Policy Annual Conference will be held in Portland, Oregon March 24-26. Activists will be traveling from all over the place to meet up, talk about reform, and hear from some of the most passionate speakers imaginable. I plan on attending, and you should too.

If you are a cannabis company owner, you should give strong consideration to sponsoring the event. I can say as a first hand witness, had it not been for the efforts of SSDP members in Oregon, reform would likely not be as far along as it is in Oregon. Oregon SSDP members directly helped defeat anti-cannabis opponent Dwight Holton in 2012, and helped push Oregon Measure 91 over the top in 2014. Literally, SSDP members have helped create the industry in Oregon, and it’s time that the Oregon industry gave back.

A sponsorship of the conference will put your brand in front of not only SSDP members, but also all of the other activists that will be in attendance. It’s a tremendous opportunity to help put your company in front of consumers and show the reform community that you support them. You can find out more about the conference, including how to become a sponsor, at this link here. Hope to see you there!
